BOOK DESIGN
Book Design for Deepest Books, Rothermere Foundation
Book Titles: Deepest Dorset, Deepest Wiltshire
Deepest Books publish books about UK destinations from a different and varied perspective, with stories about the people who live and work in the county, quirky facts, places to visit and stay and how to make the most of time spent either as a resident or a holidaymaker. They raise funds for local charities, supported by The Rothermere Foundation, a charitable trust which has paid for the printing, design and authorship of the books.
Book design: the client brief
Goldust Design was asked to design and layout the book series, creating a welcoming and engaging design to showcase the people, places and unique communities explored in each book.
Book design: what we did
Reading these books feels like pulling up a chair at an old kitchen table in a resident's country cottage and we wanted the design to reflect this. Choosing a large format hard back with uncoated paper and matt lamination, the books feels gorgeous to hold. Inside, we have used large images of landscapes to showcase the area with handwritten typography and vintage paper backgrounds for a hand crafted feel.
