INTERPRETATION
Exhibition interpretation design
Beyond the Brotherhood: The Pre-Raphaelite Legacy
at the Russell Cotes Gallery & Museum
This temporary art exhibition brings together stunning images from the Pre-Raphaelites to contemporary art and culture, including Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones.
Museum interpretation design: client brief
Goldust Design was asked to create the interpretation design across the two room gallery, and create all branding design and marketing materials.
Interpretation design (marketing): What we did
Choosing ‘Vanity’ by Frank Cadogan Cowper as our cover girl, with special permission from the Royal Academy, we designed billboards, posters, private view invitations, magazine advertising and social media images to promote the exhibition.
Interpretation design (inside the gallery): What we did
Working with the curator, we chose a palette of rich, vibrant wall colours as a backdrop for the sumptuous oil paintings in their gorgeous golden frames, with colours positioned to lead visitors through the space and mark themed sections. We also designed vinyl wall graphics with vintage typography and small captions cards for every artwork.
All this combined to create a visually stunning space which showcased the incredible artworks beautifully and gave a welcoming and engaging experience for visitors.
