Exhibition interpretation design
China: Through the lens of John Thomson
at the Russell Cotes Gallery & Museum
This temporary exhibition covers a decade of John Thomson’s photographic work in Asia from 1862 to 1872 and is curated from the renowned collection of glass negatives at the Wellcome Library, London.
Museum interpretation design: client brief
Goldust Design was asked to create the interpretation design across the two room gallery, and create all branding design and marketing materials.
Interpretation design (marketing): What we did
Starting with the poster design, we went on to create magazine adverts, leaflets, private view invitations, social media imagery. We experimented with various images before choosing our gorgeous girl with head-dress, and paired her with some vintage typography and plenty of space to allow her to shine.
Interpretation design (inside the gallery): What we did
Working with the curator, we designed vinyl wall graphics, text panels and caption cards for every artwork. All this combined to create a visually stunning space which showcased the incredible artworks beautifully and gave a welcoming and engaging experience for visitors.
