Lifestyle Book Design

Therapy is Magic

Publisher: Yellow Kite

Author Jo Love is on a mission to boost the perception of talking therapy as a tool for self-help and had a large instagram following. With a bold, clean typography and a lot of pink and stars we drew inspiration from her personal brand to create an engaging inviting and accessible book for young women struggling with their mental health.

The Art of Urban Astronomy

Publisher: Orion Books

The publisher described the book as 'a beautiful practical guide to astronomy' and requested a light and airy design with varied use of illustrations throughout. Lots of white space and cunning use of the second colour. Goldust Design created a spacious, vibrant style then laid out the whole book, choosing simple chic typography and a range of illustrations to decorate the pages, creating this elegant and accessible 2-colour book.

Book Design: Change Your Space by Dilly Carter

TV presenter Dilly is well-known as the voice of reason from Stacey Solomon's Sort Your Life Out on BBC1.  The book was so inspiring I found myself doing clutter clearing sprints while I was designing it! The brief was clean and contemporary typography with leopard print and palms, Dilly's favourites.

Non-fiction for Pavilion Books

Working with Pavilion Books’ in-house design team we have laid out piles of books for them. From cookery books to gift books, gardening, fashion and culture, we handle every step from the InDesign templates provided to preparing final artwork. We must have laid out  several thousand pages for Pavilion over the years and love their vibrant colourful style.

Pavilion's book designs tend to be bright, lively and decorative, so are fun to design. We have worked on a few books for TV shows with them. Created in top secret, while episodes were still being filmed by the BBC, and long before the shows aired, it was great to be part of these huge creative projects. Other brands we have collaborated on with Pavilion are Phantom of the Opera and the National Trust (50 Things series for children).
